It feels like spring- and that could only lead to one thing…. Yep, it’s time to break out the Garret 1000 - and get it ready for some adventure. I have been doing coin shooting with my metal detector on and off for about 15 years. I just got back into it again after I discovered that my kids love to go out with me and dig in the dirt. To get some good practice in, I set up a little coin garden in my back yard last fall before the ground froze. Now it’s almost time to go see if I can find all that money I put in the ground.
The detector I use is a Garret GTA power master 1000. Garret has now discontinued this model, but I think it was one of the better detectors out there for the money. I also use the Automax Precision V4 pinpointer. This pinpointer is manufactured by Kellyco -. Like anything else , the more you practice with your detector the better you get and the more fun it is. For people that are wanting to get started with this hobby, I would suggest to visit Kellycos web site @ www.kellycodetectors.com . They have links that will take you to educational forums among other things that are helpful. Good luck and happy hunting. (I'll kick some pics up later..)
